Nondestructive Testing (NDT) is a growing field that plays a critical role in assuring that structural components and systems perform their function in a reliable and cost-effective fashion. NDT technicians and engineers define and implement tests that locate and characterize material conditions and flaws that might otherwise cause less visible but troubling events. These tests are performed in a manner that does not affect the future use of the object or material. In other words, NDT allows parts and materials to be inspected and measured without damaging them. Because it allows inspection without interfering with a product's final use, NDT provides an excellent balance between quality control and cost-effectiveness. This eight-course certificate program can be completed in as little as one semester.

Each workshop attendee receives a Moraine Valley Community College certificate of attendance and the appropriate adult education credit. Individuals who successfully complete ND8-112 Radiation Safety will be prepared to take the radiographer trainee test administered by the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA). Individuals who successfully complete the NDT courses will have fulfilled the training requirements for certification as defined by SNT-TC-1A and ANSI/ASNT-CP-189.

A few short courses could lead you into an exciting apprenticeship where you could be evaluating the structural soundness of bridges, 核设施, 过山车, 飞机, or a rocket to the moon.

Jobs related to nondestructive testing are projected to grow on average by 5% to 9% from 2016-2026.

“There is a lot of demand for jobs in NDT right now... After spending six weeks in class, you’ll have the skills for a well-paying, entry-level position... Companies looking to hire come to us to inquire about the students who have and are finishing the courses.”
